Time Out Rival To Launch
London is to get a new weekly listings and information guide to directly challenge Time Out. London Eye, a weekly guide, will launch on September 1, with two pilot editions out on July 6 and August 3.London Eye, with a cover price of just 30p compared to Time Out’s £1.50 is hoping to take a share of Time Out’s market, with London Eye’s tabloid newspaper format allowing the lower cover price. London Eye aims to have a total pagination of between 32 and 44 pages each week and will carry a full arts and entertainments listings for London, including a 7-day TV guide, with editorial covering London issues that will be “easy to read, fun and informative”. The initial print run of London Eye will be 100,000; the two pilot copies will be given away free at tube and railway stations. Time Out had a Jul-Dec ABC of 107,745. London Eye: 0171 383 4447
