Digg appoints Net Communities to boost UK ad sales

Social network website Digg.com has appointed Net Communities to handle its UK direct advertising sales.

In its five years in operation Digg has grown from being a site with mostly technology content to one that offers sports, entertainment, science, world affairs, business and gaming content.

Last year it launched its next generation DiggAds advertising platform that reduces the cost per click for advertisers as users ‘digg’ or vote up ad content as they do with the editorial.

The site currently has four million users in the UK and, according to Hitwise, takes the biggest share of technology ads, ahead of CNET News and The Register.

Bob Buch, Digg VP of business development, said: “The UK is an extremely important market for us in terms of expanding the Digg community and growing ad revenue. So it was extremely important for us to find a partner that really understands the Digg platform and audience.”
