TV Viewing Summary W/E 25/06/95

Monday night’s episode of Eastenders has for the first time out-performed both the Tuesday and Thursday editions. It gained 13.2 million viewers and a 61% share of the total viewing audience and is part of BBC1’s strong Monday night schedule between 7pm and 9pm.

ITV’s decision to show two movie premieres, The Last Boy Scout on Tuesday and Universal Soldier on Saturday, had some sucess. The Last Boy Scout, at number 19 in the top 30 programme list, was watched by 9.6 million between 9pm and 10pm but the average for the duration of the whole of the film was only 8.76 million. Universal Soldier did worse gaining only 8.52 million and reaching number 22 on the top 30 programme list.

Viewing as a whole has fallen sharply when compared the same week last year, down by 8.3%. One of the main reasons for this could be that this time last year the Football World Cup was on and BBC2, which showed the majority of the BBC coverage, was performing well.
