New Observer Editor

Andrew Jaspan was yesterday appointed editor of the Observer by the owners, the Scott Trust. Jaspan, who was the unanimous choice of the selection committee, is currently the editor of The Scotsman.

This follows the appointment last week of Alan Rusbridger as new editor of the Guardian.

Jaspan said of the Observer, “It’s under-performing and clearly the number one job the Guardian group expect me to do is bring certain changes which will bring success and more people reading the newspaper.”
