BSkyB yesterday confirmed that it has signed a deal with Reuters. Under the agreeement, Sky News will retain editorial control but Reuters will provide behind-the-camera services and additional news both in the UK and abroad. Reuters will also provide particular programmes for Sky News.
This is the second deal recently between Reuters and television companies belonging to Rupert Murdoch; the previous deal was with Fox in the US, and a possible link with Star TV, Murdoch’s Asian satellite service could also follow. The partnership should save Sky News £10m.
