August Cinema Admissions – Independence Day Breaks All Records
Independence Day took £25 million during August helping box offices to have their busiest month this decade. The Hollywood blockbuster achieved 4.93 million admissions during the first week of release (w/c 9/8) and broke UK box office records by grossing £6.9 million in the first 3 days.
Average weekly admissions for August were 3.69 million and total admissions topped 16 million.

With no major films during September interim estimates suggest that admissions will down 20% on last year, when Braveheart and Apollo 13 were on general release.
