Granada’s good full year profits had mixed effects on the company’s share price. At the beginning of the week its share price stood at 895p fell to 882p on Wednesday (when the results were published), rose slightly to 887p on Thursday before falling to 882p by the end of the week*Granada Profits Rise.
Speculation about a proposed bid for the ITV company Westcountry drove United News & Media’s share price up to 697p on Wednesday, its highest price since September. City fears about the company’s decision to raise money through the issue of convertible bond to help finance any likely bid drove the price down to 682p by the close of the week.
Helped by record 6 month interim profits Southnews, the regional newspaper company, saw its share price rise to 461p on Wednesday before falling slightly to 454p by the end of the week*Southnews Performs Well.
