General Cable Shows Drop In Penetration
General Cable’s 1995 results released yesterday show a drop in cable television penetration. Although the number of cable TV subscribers increased from 66,361 to 89,659 (up by 35%), the penetration rate fell from 25% to 23%.
Other figures show that revenues were up by 58%, average revenue per home live was up by 8% to £153 and 32.5% of the total revenue came from cable television.
There was a large increase in the group’s cable telecommunications business: residential customers increased by 74% and business customers by 60%.
Operating loss increased from £18m to £20m, a rate which is expected to continue throughout 1996.
