Potter Leads C4’s New Season
Drama from Dennis Potter and a remake of Gulliver’s Travels lead Channel 4’s spring programming season.
Potter’s last wish that Karaoke and Cold Lazarus should be broadcast jointly by both Channel 4 and the BBC will be honoured, with the two broadcasters co-operating over screening the dramas.
Gulliver’s Travels comes to C4 after huge success in America, where it was watched by 57 million viewers on NBC. There will also be three film dramas by emerging writers, screened under the title of Talentspotting, which alludes to C4’s support for the young trio who made Shallow Grave and Trainspotting.
Gaby Roslin and Zig and Zag will have their own shows and there will be a new black music show called Flava. Eurotrash and Baadaas TV both return for new series. Movies to be shown include Full Metal Jacket (premiere), The Shining and 2001. Sports coverage includes American Football and Basketball.
