BBC Spends £200m On Winter Schedule

The BBC has spent around £200m on its winter schedule, it announced this week. Highlights include a dramatisation of Sir Walter Scott’s Ivanhoe, a new prison drama called Insiders and a time travelling police series The Crime Traveller starring Michael French from Eastenders.

Christopher Lee will star in the six part Ivanhoe adaptation alongside Susan Lynch and Steven Waddington and there will also be an adaptation of Conrad’s Nostromo on BBC2’s Saturday night slot. Children’s Hospital will focus on Britain’s busiest casualty unit in Liverpool’s Alder Hay hospital and the concluding chapters of People’s Century will be screened.

The winter will also see new series of Red Dwarf, This Life, Ballykissangel, Hamish Macbeth, Silent Witness, Birds of a Feather, The Brittas Empire and Harry Enfield and Chums.
