Carlton Profits Soar

Carlton Communications this morning announced that pre-tax profits have risen from £246.7m to £295.1m for the year ended 30 September while turnover grew to £1.677.5m. Profits in the group’s TV business rose by 5% while other interests such as film processing recorded growth of between 20-30%.

Michael Green, head of Carlton Communications, said that the company is keen to embrace the new digital broadcasting age and is looking to expand further into pay TV both as content provider and operator. He also pointed out that commercial terrestrial TV is still the best way to reach mass audiences and cable and satellite TV should be seen to complement rather then compete with this.
