February Cinema Admissions Up 25.6%

The latest Average Weekly Admissions for February show admissions are up an impressive 25% year on year to 3.11 million; last February’s average admissions were 2.48 million. So far 1996 has been a very successful year for the cinema industry; January broke Box Office records, and the weekend of 24th and 25th February was Cinema’s biggest weekend ever in terms of Box Office takings, with £7.7 million being taken across the Top 15 films.

The actual total of admissions was 12.88 million, the highest figure since August last year. February’s success can be attributed to a whole host of big films including Casino, Sense and Sensibility, Trainspotting, plus others which were released earlier but still showing inclusing Seven, Heat and Father of the Bride II.
