Evening Standard Launches Net Site
The Evening Standard City pages together with the two main news and sports pages are now available on the Internet.
The website, which launched yesterday, will be updated daily as each edition of the paper is printed. The site shows Standard pages on the right of the screen exactly as they appear in the paper and the left side of the screen displays the news items. These can be selected either by an index or clicking on the relevant story from the right of the screen. Another facility is an archive where users can read the last five days’ editions of the paper.
An electronic form of the Standard has been in existence for around eighteen months, being downloaded to subscribers via ISDN. The Internet version is an extension of this.
