The ITC has awarded the local cable franchise for Eastbourne and Hastings to Bell Cablemedia Plc.
Bell Cablemedia is the third largest cable company in the country, serving much of the south-east region. Its cash bid for the licence was £3,387,536. The new area covers the coastal areas of East Sussex and will offer service to at least 130,000 homes by 2002.
Four applications for this franchise had originally been submitted, and Bell Cablemedia’s cash bid was the highest.
The ITC is also inviting applications to run the cable franchise for the Vale of Belvoir, the area around Nottingham and Leicester. The area covers around 11,000 homes and the franchise will run for 15 years.
Applications must be received by 13 May 1996.
