Johnston Press Sees Profit Soar

Johnston Press today released financial results for the six months to June 1997 which show that pre-tax profits have risen 53% to £19.4m, on the back of turnover up 98% to £110.6m. The regional publisher also saw advertising growth rates of 8%.

Fred Johnston will retire from executive duties on 15 September but remain chairman, at which time Tim Bowdler, group managing director, becomes chief executive.
