The ITC has issued a formal warning to TV3 Broadcasting for serious breaches in the ITC Programme and Sponsorship Codes. Although TV3 broadcasts to Scandinavian audiences its programmes come under ITC jurisdiction because it is based in the UK.
The warnings relate to a Lottery programme which offered prizes of Nokia mobile phones and made numerous references to Nokia phones both verbally and in vision. This means that the broadcaster was in clear breach of five Sponsorship rules concerning credits, influence, competitions and product references. A warning was also issued regarding a programme in which two comedians gave undue prominence to a beer brand in their programme.
