Speaking at the Newspaper Society’s Weekly Newspaper Conference in Leeds, Doug McKenzie, marketing manager of Kwik Fit, told delegates: “Local press is able to offer synergy through its close relationship with the community. Research confirms that 62% of adults believe local press has the most helpful advertising when deciding what to buy and seen as being trustworthy, responsible and useful.”

McKenzie’s message to regional newspaper publishers was:

1 Protect the product and make sure it is right for your customers and the community.

2 Make it as simple as possible to buy and supply advertising. Continue to educate agencies and advertisers, reduce production lead-times, costs and contact points.

3 Be more open and accountable. Work together towards a common goal.
