ITV today launched its newly-formed ITV Politics Group, aimed at developing Westminster coverage for its regional programmes.
The new organisation, chaired by Anglia TV’s political editor Graham Donaldson, includes all the ITV companies except the Scottish broadcasters and aims to bring their collective “muscle” to bear in dealing with the new Governments departments. It will provide a single focal-point for Government press-officers to contact when news is breaking.
In the past ITV companies had lost out on coverage because of their fragmented nature but the Politics Group hopes that the new co-operation will provide them with a more forceful voice and save money when sending crews out to cover events.
