ITC Seeks Legal Advice Over ITV / BSkyB Digital Row
The ITC has confirmed to MediaTel’s Newsline that it is seeking legal advice on whether it can force the ITV network to enter into a partnership with BSkyB and be part of its 200-channel digital service. BSkyB wants the terrestrial network to pay for its two channels ITV and ITV2, but they are so far refusing.
The ITC at present does not believe it is in a position to force ITV companies to change their minds and thus is taking legal advice to see if the companies are in breach of the 1990 Broadcasting Act.
