Clear Channel Announces Restructuring Plans

Clear Channel International has announced the new structure of its European arm following a heavy acquisition period for the US group, which has seen expansions into Switzerland and Poland (see Clear Channel Expands Into Swiss And Polish Outdoor Markets) and the UK (see Clear Channel And Katz Radio Sales Houses Set To Merge Following US Deal).

Peter Smyth, currently MD of the More group, has been appointed regional director of the northern European region, which includes the UK, Ireland and Holland, and the rest of its European interests will be divided into three further regions.

The main roles for Smyth will be to develop long-term projects within the region including further acquisitions, franchises and tenders, and responsibility for radio sales following the Katz/CCRs merger. He will also be in charge of a new e-commerce business.

Roger Parry, CEO of Clear Channel International, said: “We have expanded rapidly across Europe in a relatively short time. The new structure allows the regional directors to focus on the broader strategic issues while the general managers of the business units focus on the day to day job of growing sales and profits.”
