IPC Restructures Music Titles Management
IPC Music and Sport group has announced a restructure of the management of its music titles. Bruce Sandell, who is currently associate publisher of Muzik and Uncut, will become publisher of NME, Melody Maker and Muzik, and Dan Coxon will be the new publisher of Uncut.
Commenting on Bruce Sandell’s promotion, publishing director Robert Tame said: “Under his direction our two music monthlies are performing very strongly and gaining advertising and circulation market share against their EMAP counterparts Mixmag and Mojo. NME and Melody Maker are key brands for Music & Sport and Bruce is the ideal person to help drive their development.”
In the latest figures from the Audit Bureau of Circulations (ABC), sales across the whole music magazine sector were down (see Music Magazines’ Circulations Continue To Fall). Melody Maker underwent a relaunch recently to halt a steep drop in sales and reposition the weekly magazine to cater for a core readership of 16-19 year olds (see Melody Maker Unveils Radical New Look).
