Opus Forms New Strategic Planning Unit

GWR commercial radio sales house, Opus, has created a new strategic sales planning unit which aims to “create long term creative solutions for the media planning agencies and departments.” Opus currently sells airtime and sponsorship across 18 FM and 15 AM GWR regional stations, along with the flagship national station, Classic FM.

The unit is to be headed by David Roberts and Fraser Heaviside, who are responsible for GWR local business and Classic FM respectively. Opus’ managing director, Duncan George, says that the new unit will focus solely on planning agencies and departments in order to get to the ‘root’ of advertising objectives.

“As the agency landscape has changed, with more emphasis on planning, so Opus has to evolve to offer customers a wider range of resources… To fulfil that promise, we are dedicating two experienced Opus executives who have the expertise to understand and deal in the currencies of the media planner rather than the buyer, trading ideas as opposed to simply CPTS,” says George.
