New Programming And Advertising Review Published By Radio Authority
The Radio Authority’s Programming and Advertising Review, covering the second quarter of 2000, has now been published. An online version, replacing the printed copy which was distributed in the past, is available on the Authority’s website, www.radioauthority.org.uk.
During the April-June quarter, the Authority dealt with 116 written complaints regarding UK commercial radio stations. Of those, 61 were about advertising and sponsorship issues. Seven of these complaints were upheld- three relating to misleading adverts, two to offensive content, one thought to be harmful and one related to other matters.
The remaining 55 were about programming and related matters, of which 15 were upheld. Nine of the complaints upheld were about taste and decency, four balance, bias or fairness and two accuracy.
