Box Secures Continued Woolworths Sponsorship
Music channel The Box has won another sponsorship deal with high street retailer Woolworths. It is understood that the new deal involves a significantly increased sum, but an exact figure is not being released.
The Box, which airs for free on cable, digital and satellite platforms, allows viewers to request music videos via the telephone. The most requested videos are profiled in a countdown feature each week called BoxTops. This is the feature which Woolworths will sponsor for the next two years. Jo Scott-Dalgleish, category implementation manager for entertainment at Woolworths commented “It gives us the opportunity to reach a large and extremely important audience.”
Channel owners Emap invested around £1m in a revamp operation last year (see EMAP To Give The Box £1m Promotion). It has been rewarded by cable viewing figures of around 2 million, doubled from the same time last year.
