The BBC held a programme strategy meeting yesterday, with suggestions that the Corporation should now concentrate on attracting audiences not currently served – particularly C and D social groups. Meanwhile, Mark Tully, India correspondent with the BBC, slated director general John Birt yesterday claiming that he has ruined everything the Corporation stood for, placing money above everything. Mr Birt is expected to reply to Tully’s speech later this week.
