ABCE Releases First WAP And Digital TV Audit

ABC Electronic (ABCE) has released the first audit of a WAP portal. The figures for Loot.com showed that in the audit period 1-31 March, 62,000 of the 13.9 million page impressions recorded were made via WAP portal, with the remainder from either the website or Digital TV.
Richard Foan, director of ABC Electronic said, “Now that we have the metrics in place to measure Digital TV and WAP as well as web traffic, ABCE can provide a more detailed audit. It is crucial that as this medium emerges, we provide development of guidelines and identify the needs of the industry.”
1.7 million of the impressions recorded for Loot during March came through Digital TV. While recent government statistics show that internet access in the home is continuing to increase (see Digital Divide Widens As Take-Up Doubles), other recent research has suggested that televisions will overtake PCs as the most common way to access the net in future (see ‘Digital Gateways’ Set To Lead The Race For Net Subscribers).
The www.loot.com website is the online presence for a 15 year old publishing success story. Developed from the original free-ads paper format, recently bought up by Scoot (see Scoot Bags Loot To Create “Integrated Infomediary”), the site carries advertisements from individuals and businesses for items as diverse as cars, holidays, electrical goods and dating services. The first UK site to launch a person-to-person auction service, it has around £400m worth of goods on-line, with over 150,000 items for sale each day.
