The BBC managed to secure 18 out of the top 20 sports audiences of 1992 according to BARB.
The bulk of the 20 were made up of coverage of the Olympics (12), with the top position going to The Grand National with 16m viewers. ITV’s only 2 entrants were Chris Eubank fights.
In total, the top 20 consisted of 4 boxing events, which bodes well for the numerous exclusive boxing contests which ITV will be covering in the coming months.
