JCDecaux Secures New Tram Network Contract

JCDecaux has secured an exclusive agreement with transport advertising group, AdBus, to sell 6-sheet advertising panels across Nottingham’s new tram network.

The deal begins in November and includes a range of 6-sheet panels at tram stations across Nottingham, which JCDecaux claims is the UK’s seventh most profitable shopping destination with 612,000 inhabitants.

The new agreement is part of the outdoor group’s drive to increase its presence in the East Midlands and follows its recent success in securing the street furniture contract for Leicester (see JCDecaux Wins Leicester Street Furniture Contract).

Commenting on the deal, Pierre Jeanjean, managing director of JCDecaux, said: “We are delighted to announce our win of the new Nottingham tram network 6-sheet contract. It strengthens the company’s presence in one of the UK’s most important cities.”

Andrew Walker, managing director of AdBus, added: “We are pleased to work with JCDecaux, who will bring their trademark quality to the advertising sites on the new tram network.”

JCDecaux recently unveiled a bus shelter campaign for Novartis Aller-eze nasal spay, which will sneeze at passers-by (see JCDecaux Unveils Sneezing Bus Shelters).

The latest figures from the Advertising Association reveal an impressive performance for outdoor advertising, which saw adspend increase by 16.8% year on year in the first quarter of 2003 (see War In Iraq Slows Growth In UK Adspend).
