Kerrang! Appoints New Managing Director For Midlands

Emap has announced the appointment of Adrian Serle as the new managing director of its West Midlands-based Kerrang! 105.2 with a brief to increase the radio station’s revenue as the company builds its FM operations.

Serle will take up his new position on 4 October, making the move to Birmingham from Emap radio stablemates, Hallam FM and Magic AM in Sheffield, where he has achieved record revenue growth as sales director.

Commenting on the appointment, Travis Baxter, managing director of Emap’s Kerrang! network, said: “Since its launch in June, Kerrang! 105.2 has received a fantastic reception in the marketplace. It is already demonstrating its clout in the West Midlands, proving that the region was always ready to rock!”

Serle, who joined Emap from Bristol-based Radio Works, added: “It is a fantastic opportunity to be able to take such a new and exciting radio station into the next phase of its evolution. It will be a pleasure to lead the Kerrang! 105.2 team into maximising revenue growth potential whilst delivering the West Midlands’ most exciting radio proposition to both listeners and advertisers alike.”

Emap recently announced a major expansion of the Kerrang! brand, pushing the station into Northern England through the its seven wholly-owned DAB digital multiplexes. The growth in reach was undertaken as part of Emap’s strategy to extend its national radio brands and equip them for localised content (see Emap Expands Kerrang! Into Northern DAB Regions).
