Craig David To Launch New Magic Show

Craig David Emap’s Magic 105.4 is to open its schedule to a host of music stars, with the creation of new programming strand My Magic Music.

The new show will kick off on 17 September, fronted by its first guest presenter – R ‘n’ B star, Craig David.

The weekly show, which will air from 7pm-9pm, offers Magic listeners two hours of songs, hand-picked by the show’s guest presenter.

Other artists lined up to follow Craig David include Sheryl Crowe, Bananarama, James Blunt, Joan Armatrading, Daniel Powter and many more.

The new series forms part of a wider strategy by new Magic MD Andria Vidler to add new hooks to the Magic 105.4 schedule. The new show is the first step towards wider investment in programming, imaging and marketing.

Earlier this month Magic announced that it had signed former GMTV presenter, Eamonn Holmes, for a weekly show starting on 18 September (see Emap Signs Holmes To Front Magic 105.4 Show).

Commenting on the station’s new strategy, Andria Vidler said: “Magic is now the second most listened to commercial radio station in London, and we want to be number one. This will not happen overnight – it is very much evolution not revolution. By adding new shows into the weekend schedule, we are giving the station some extra talkability whilst keeping music at the absolute forefront.”

She added: “Music remains hero on Magic and our aim is to become everyone’s favourite music station.”
