London Lite To Launch Next Week

Associated Newspapers is to launch its freesheet, London Lite, earlier than planned in order to be on the streets ahead of its rival, News International’s thelondonpaper.

With its launch brought forward to August 30, Associated’s London Lite will be available a full five days before News International’s offering, which has itself had its launch date brought forward, from September 18 to September 4.

Both papers are expected to launch with a similar distribution of around 400,000 copies daily.

London Lite will share the thisislondon.co.uk website with the Evening Standard, and will have a gossipy tone focusing on celebrities and urban life.

Ted Young, currently editor of the soon to be defunct Standard Lite, will take over as editor of London Lite once the paper has become established.
