Tesco To Offer Digital TV Service

Tesco To Offer Digital TV Service

Digital Television Box Tesco is to launch its own digital television service, powered by Homechoice, and go head-to-head with BSkyB, Freeview and BT.

According to reports in the trade press, the UK’s biggest retailer will offer subscribers several digital channels as well as “catch up” programming and a variety of video-on-demand (VOD) services, including film and music.

The service will be packaged under the Tesco brand. The retailer has already begun testing a Tesco Digital Home service in North London.

Homechoice, currently only available in Stevenage and London, was last month purchased for £60 million by the Italian internet service provider Tiscali (see Tiscali To Launch Triple Play Services After Buying Homechoice) and it is expected that the Homechoice service will be rolled out nationally following this acquisition.
