New Tricks The BBC’s detective show New Tricks performed admirably last night, seeing off competition from The British Academy Awards on ITV1 with an average audience of 7.6 million adults.

The Academy Awards scooped 3.8 million meanwhile, as Channel 4 aired the perennially popular Wife Swap to an average audience of 2.4 million

Elsewhere, BBC Two debuted a new series of Dead ringers to 1.8 million, while new police based comedy Feel The Force attracted 1.3 million in the following half hour.

Five’s largest audience of the evening came with Prison Break, as the US drama drew 1.3 million adults on average.
