Life On Mars Enjoys Healthy Audience

Lofe On Mars BBC1 slightly beat ITV1 last night, with an average of 6.1 million adult viewers tuning in to watch drama Life on Mars, compared to ITV’s Northern Lights which attracted a healthy average audience of 6 million adults.

ITV1 lost viewers in its second showing of Coronation Street, with an average of 10.3 million adults watching the first episode, slipping to 9.6 million for the later show. Eastenders attracted an average of 9.9 million adult viewers for BBC1.

Elsewhere, Channel 4 saw a healthy performance in its offerings last night, with 2.2 million adult viewers watching the medical shock documentary Curse of the Mermaid, dropping to just over 2 million staying tuned for American medical drama, ER.

Meanwhile, BBC2 enjoyed an average adult audience of 2.2 million for its documentary Balderdash and Piffle, looking into the hidden histories behind English words.
