ITV Restructures Scheduling Chiefs

ITV Logo ITV is to restructure its scheduling team, a move which will see Priya Singh join the commercial giant as the new head of off-peak scheduling for ITV1, while Stephen Price is promoted to become controller of the channel’s peak time scheduling.

Both new appointments will report to David Bergg, ITV’s director of programme strategy, who now takes on overall responsibility for ITV’s programming and scheduling across its channel portfolio.

In their new positions, Price will take on the day-to-day management of the broadcaster’s peak-time programming, while Singh handles off-peak schedules. Both will work closely with Alison Sharman, director of factual, daytime and children’s programming.

Singh’s appointment sees her leave the BBC, where she had been head of scheduling for CBBC and CBeebies, holding the position since March 2003. Prior to this the new scheduling boss was deputy scheduler of CBBC One and Two. She follows in the footsteps of Stephen Price, who also joined ITV from the BBC in June 2004.

Welcoming the appointments, Simon Shaps, director of television at ITV said: “As ITV’s channel portfolio grows and the environment we operate in becomes increasingly competitive, scheduling takes on an ever more crucial and strategic role. David’s expertise and application in this area is second to none and his expanded role has given us an opportunity to add yet more expert resource to this all important area.”

Earlier this month saw ITV appoint TV mogul Duncan Gray, the man behind The Big Breakfast and Ant and Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway as its new controller of entertainment ahead of a push for more successful content (see ITV Signs Entertainment Guru As New Controller).
