Capital Radio Loses Execs In Reshuffle

Capital Radio Logo GCap Media is to lose two key executives in a management reshuffle that sees Capital Radio managing director Keith Pringle, and programme director Nik Goodman step down from their positions with immediate effect.

The changes form part of on-going management upheaval at the newly re-launched station, with the decision for Pringle and Goodman to resign described as “mutual” by the broadcaster.

GCap now enters the next stage of development for Capital Radio, with a focus on attracting new listeners to the station through recruitment for specific skills and experience.

Earlier this year saw Capital Radio rebrand from 95.8 Capital FM, shifting to a new programming structure, and changing its music policy to offer less repetition and fewer advertisements (see Capital Radio Returns Following Rebrand).

The station is so far unable to confirm Capital’s new programme director, but hopes to make an announcement next week.

Commenting on today’s announcement, GCap operations director, Steve Orchard, said: “Since the implementation of the changes to the station in January, much has been achieved through the commitment, hard work and creativity of the team at Capital Radio. The new advertising policy has been welcomed by advertisers, we have held pricing levels, and early listener feedback from our own research is extremely encouraging.”

“However, there is still much to do at this critical time in order to take the station to the next level and attract new listeners. This role is now a unique position in radio in the UK that requires a different skill set and expertise as we seek to turn the station around.”
