A date has been announced for the closure of the Lifestyle channel, owned by ETN, the company responsible for the recent merger with Screensport (Newsline 14/1). At 3.00am on 25 January the channel, along with The Lifestyle Satellite Jukebox will come off air, giving its transponder (Astra Transponder No. 5) to the German service, Vox.
Chief executive of ETN, Rick Spinner says about the move; “Unfortunately ETN has been unable to stem its continued losses and reluctantly the shareholders have withdrawn their support”. The Children’s channel will remain on transponder 5, as well as No.24. Under the agreement with Vox, ETN will sell the remaining lease time on Astra.
