Grand Designs Lures Almost 4m Viewers To C4

Grand Designs Last night’s less than conventional ‘Grand Design’, which saw a young surveyor construct a decagon bachelor pad in Oxford, drew more than 3.9 million adults to Channel 4 between 9pm and 10pm.

The new series of the ever-popular lifestyle format, Grand Designs, continued to perform well for C4, giving the station a 17% viewing share in the timeslot.

Meanwhile, BBC One ‘s Crimewatch gained the most adult viewers on average for the hour, with more than 4.3 million tuning in to help solve the latest crimes, giving the channel an 18.7% share.

Over on ITV1, new series Honest managed an average adult audience of 3.4 million (14.7%), whilst Dr Who spin-off, Torchwood, took over 3.2 million (14%) for BBC Two.

Earlier, The Bill was the most watched programme in the 8pm to 9pm slot, with a 24% share and an average adult audience of 5.4 million. Relocation, Relocation on Channel 4 was seen by over 3.6 million (16.2%).

The debut of the brilliant Ramsay’s Kitchen Nightmares USA brought more than 2.9 million (17.1%) to Channel 4 between 10pm and 11pm, whilst the BBC News at 10pm continued to dominate over ITV1’s effort, with almost five million viewers versus two million.
