Channel 4 Unveils Spring Line-Up

Channel 4 Channel 4 has unveiled its spring line-up, with a new series of The Charlotte Church Show and shows featuring innovative chef Heston Blumenthal.

Blumenthal has been signed on an exclusive two year deal understood to be worth around £400,000, which will see him star in one show, Big Chef, Little Chef, where he will attempt to change the menu at Little Chef eateries.

He will also take part in Feast With Heston Blumenthal, where he will explore culinary history.

Cherie Blair will take a leading role in the broadcaster’s forthcoming season about street crime, chairing a Street Weapons Commission for Channel 4.

The The Truth About Street Weapons programme will be broadcast across five two hour programmes in July as part of a season of programmes addressing gun and knife crime.

Anarchic sitcom Peep Show makes a welcome return to our screens, while John Simm stars in English Civil War epic, The Devil’s Whore.

Meanwhile, this summer will see the return of Big Brother, with the possibility of the show airing at different times on different nights to counter rivals.

Channel 4 chief executive, Andy Duncan, recently unveiled the “Next on 4” blueprint for the broadcaster’s role in public service broadcasting, outlining how C4 intends to expand its role from broadcast into new digital media, including digital radio and online (see Channel 4 To Extend Digital Media Expansion).
