Blinkx Launches New Web TV Search Tool

Blinkx The video search engine, blinkx, has launched a new remote search tool, which enables users to find and watch their favourite TV shows, from any channel, free online.

blinkx’s Remote service searches the web to find all legal episodes of television programmes from the catch-up services, including BBC, ITV, Channel 4, Five and other channels.

The company claim that audiences will only find “full length, legally available, episodes of their favourite TV programmes through blinkx Remote”.

The new video search technology has been designed to filter out video spam, illegal clips and inappropriate material that has been falsely tagged.

Suranga Chandratillake, founder and CEO of blinkx, said: “The online video landscape has changed dramatically over the past year – what was once the domain of short-form, user-generated material, has become the realm of premium television.”

blinkx Remote say its product is unique because it allows viewers to access content that is currently on different sites belonging to various broadcasters, “quickly, easily and in one place”.

The new service has just been made available to UK audiences, with a version of the product currently upcoming for the US market.
