Latest National Newspaper Additions

Yet more additional supplements are being planned by the nationals. News International is to add both a daily tabloid section and a Saturday listings guide to The Times.

Details for the daily tabloid are still being decided but it will mean the Times will carry three sections every day. The Saturday section will be a full 7-day listings guide, in tabloid format, and will be out on October 16. It will also contain a What’s On guide, film guide and critical articles.

Ad rates will be the same as for the main paper. The Daily Mail is to launch a new weekly section called Career Mail on October 14. This will be followed by the launch of the Saturday supplement on October 16. The Mail is competing with the Telegraph on both accounts; Guy Zitter told MediaTel that they no longer see the Express as their main rival; they are fighting the Telegraph.

The Career Mail will carry three pages of editorial about careers, covering relevant topics such as how to write a cv, how to dress at interview, and will include news of relevance to careers. It is intended to be a practical guide for the reader. There will be five pages of classified recruitment ads. In addition, the service will be supported by a Career-Link service whereby the reader can ring for any information on vacancies carried over the past six weeks.

A selection of vacancies will also be shown on Teletext, thus the Mail claims reaching a potential audience of 14 million.

Ad rates will be as for the main paper.
