Satellite Dishes Up 30,000

According to GfK’s latest Satellite Monitor, for January 1994, the total of Satellite Dish Ownership (Direct to Home) as at January 22, was 2.496m dishes. This represents an increase of 30,000 since the December estimate.

The estimated total satellite dish churn (de-installation or non-use of satellite equipment) for 1993 is 200,000. 10% appears to be a “normal” level of churn; the figure of 14.2% for 1992 is exceptionally high, probably due to Sky Direct subscribers cancelling their rental agreements as subscription levels increased.
