Bollore Hints At Further Investment In Aegis

French entrepreneur and Havas chief executive, Vincent Bollore, has re-ignited speculation over his intentions toward British advertising group, Aegis.

Speaking at a press conference the advertising boss, and chairman of Groupe Bollore, stated that “all options are open. We could strengthen our stake in Aegis,” hinting at an increase of his existing 25.5% share in the firm.

Bollore steadily increased his stake in the company at the beginning of the year, fuelling industry speculation of a possible merger between the UK media company and Havas (see Bollore Raises Aegis Stake To Over 25%).

Earlier this month saw Bollore outline his plans for the coming year, announcing a streamlining of Havas’ management, and hinting at a push for a Board position at UK-based Aegis. The French media boss was responding to criticism from Aegis chief executive Robert Lerwill that his involvement with the company at board level would be inappropriate.

According to Bollore, he “can’t imagine” being denied involvement in Aegis due to his financial interest (see Bollore Reveals Management Plans).
