May Inflation Remains Stable
The latest Retail Price Index, released today, shows that inflation remained stable in May at 2.6%, despite predictions that it might fall to 2.5%. Taking 1985 as the base rate May’s RPI came in at 152.9, an increase of 2.6% on May 1993 and 0.3% on April 1994.
The underlying inflation rate, which excludes mortgage interest payments, rose from 2.3% in April to 2.5%.
