QVC Doubles Growth Two Years On
QVC, the home-shopping channel that launched on 1st October 1993, has celebrated its second birthday with a new high in its net sales of £9.05m. This is a 106% increase on the third quarter 1994, when sales were at £4.39m. Third quarter 1995 net sales have increased by 22.63% from £7.38m in the previous quarter 1995.
QVC is attracting new customers at the rate of 25,000 per month, and so far this year has had more than 2.2 million telephone calls. More than half a million items were shipped during the third quarter; QVC is predicting a healthy fourth quarter, with the highest ever number of orders recorded in one day, 17,000 on 6 October.
Mark Suckle, Chief Executive of QVC UK said, “We have seen strong growth in health and beauty and kitchen and home areas… new brand names are coming on board regularly, such as Sharp, Pioneer and Electrolux for the home, and Molton Brown and Elemis for beauty care.”
