Borders On Sunday, the Sunday newspaper which was launched at the end of August has closed after just four issues.
The newspaper was launched by the Chairman of Carlisle Football Club Michael Knighton just two weeks after rival newspaper Sunday News & Star came onto the market. Both papers were hoping for a circulation of around 27,000. However the circulation for the final issue of Borders on Sunday last week was claimed to be between 800 and 1000 copies with the Sunday News & Star claiming more success with a circulation of around 13,000.
