TV Overnights: Dragon’s Den secures final peak audience

BBC Two’s penultimate Dragon’s Den managed to win over the football’s peak audience between 9.30pm and 10pm last night.

ITV1’s UEFA Champions League coverage, which saw Arsenal beat Celtic 3-1, attracted a high of 5.4 million viewers early on in the match but slipped down to 1.9 million viewers in the final fifteen minutes of the all-important peak hour.

Meanwhile, Dragon’s Den pulled in 4.4 million peak viewers and a 16.9% average audience share during the post-watershed prime time slot.

BBC One’s extended peak-time programme, an adaptation of John Buchan’s adventure novel The 39 Steps, which started at the earlier time of 8.30pm, picked up 3.5 million average viewers and a 15.7% audience share.

Elsewhere, Channel 4’s Big Brother pulled in 2 million average viewers and a 9.1% share, while Five’s 9 o’clock film Second in Command picked up 1 million average viewers.
