Douglas Hurd Announces Retirement
The Foreign Secretary, Douglas Hurd, has announced that he is to retire from politics, and will remain in his post only until the next Cabinet re-shuffle.
In a statement released a few minutes ago, he says that he informed the PM in the Spring of 1994, and re-affirmed earlier this year, that he intended to retire this summer. He said that he “remained a staunch supporter of the Prime Minister.”
