Commercial Radio Nominations
Commercial radio stations have received 14 nominations in 10 categories of the 1995 Sony Radio Awards, which will be presented in London on 26 April. All three national commercial stations which were broadcasting in 1994 have received nominations: Atlantic 252 for UK station of the year, Classic FM for popular music programming, Virgin 1215 for music-based breakfast show.
Capital Radio earned three nominations: for music-based breakfast shows, regional station of the year and Chris Tarrant for local/regional broadcaster of the year. In the sport category, all three nominees are from independent local radio: Clyde 1 and 2, Gem AM and Southern FM.
Other commercial radio nominees are: BRMB for response to a news event, Radio City for a documentary feature or series, Trent FM for service to the community, and Moray Firth Radio and Yorkshire Coast Radio in the category of local station of the year.
