East Kent Licence Receives Ten Applications

The Radio Authority received ten applications for the new small-scale Independent Local Radio (ILR) licences which cover East Kent. The Licences allows a small service to cover locations within Canterbury, Thanet, Dover, Shepway or Ashford districts of East Kent. The number of frequencies available will depend upon the submitted applications although the Authority anticipates three frequencies on FM (VHF).

The closing date was on Tuesday and applications were received from the following:

  • A-TEN FM – a multiform pop music radio to cover the Borough of Ashford. Francis Wildman, 01233 713157.
  • Coastline Radio – covers Dover and Shepway. To provide an informative magazine style, community orientated speech and listener accessibility. Jon Johanson, 01304 614018.

  • EKR Coastline – music, news and focuses on aspirations and businesses of Dover and Folkestone. Mike Kuske 01304 820200.
